Red Thread Circle

A Meaningful Way to Restore Connection – with Self, with Community

All of our workshops and gatherings are opened with a Red Thread Circle – some very brief, some more in depth – depending on the situation.

RED THREAD CIRCLE

The “Red Thread” is found in many cultures and traditions. It is often connected to the Red Tent, the hem of the garment, the thread of the Sacred Mother, and many other ideas. The legend that we often refer to is in the Chinese Legend that says “we are all connected, before birth, by an invisible Red Thread, to all that we are meant to meet in this life. This thread may stretch and tangle but it is never broken. (We have taken liberty to add: Perhaps it can intentionally be severed when the connection is complete …)

All of our workshops and gatherings are opened with a Red Thread Circle –some very brief, some more in depth depending on the situation. This is the time of introductions and connection.  It includes an inquiry that can be as simple as “why are you here” or a “how did you get here” or may include the Intention for the session. There is never any pressure for people to speak, it is an offered opportunity to connect.

Red Thread Ceremonies or circles can be used for connection at any time. We use them for our workshops and retreats, they are used at weddings, family gatherings, “celebration of life gatherings”…they are used any time.

One of the main significance of the symbol/circle is as a reminder – “we are never alone –there is ALWAYS connection”.

An Uma Story:  When my mother passed, we were going to have a very small gathering to celebrate her life.  I was to lead the event.  When I was inquiring within what was I to do – the message came to do a red thread session?  No way – I did not think it would be received well from the people who would be present.  The answer came again – “Do the Red Thread!”  “okay, okay,” I said to myself.  I will now, easily admit, it was one of the most powerful events I have been a part of.  The touching stories that were told of my mother, the opportunity for anyone to speak who wished to speak – so very heart warming.  At the end of the weekend everyone still had the red thread on their wrists.  3 months later when I saw some of those same people, there were still Red Threads on those same wrists.

I am happy to lead Red Thread Ceremonies for you – Celebrations of any sort:  Weddings, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Celebrations of Life, or a need to be heard and have connection of any sort.  Contact me and lets talk if this calls to you.
