Honoring the Mother

“Honoring The  Mother” can mean so many different things.  This Virtual  workshop gathering will take place on Mother’s Day May 10, 2020 from 11 am to 3 pm PT.

Mother’s Day is a very complex day.  For some it is a delight with a celebration of connection with their mother or being the mother to their children.  That is not the case for everyone and I write this with pure compassion in my heart as I understand it is different for each of us include very difficult for many.  For some, their mother has passed and they miss her.  For some people, the mother role was offered by someone else – a father, an auntie, a grandparent , friend or no-one.  For some women,  they never became the mother they wanted to be, or they lost their dear child far far too soon.  For some, the concept/reality of the mother they had was never what they connected with in a positive way.  The possible scenes are endless.

When I think of Mother for me – I do think of my Mama who passed in 2013 and I miss her greatly.  I think of my children and granddaughter and how grateful I am to have them.  I think of the Mother in me that is Mother to all.  In fact, the name Uma means “World Mother” and most languages have a similar word meaning Mother, Grandmother, or similar.

AsI think of “Honoring the Mother” in this painting process it may go in any direction. It may be honoring the Mother of your birth or your raising, it may be the Mother in you (whether you had children or not) it may be our sweet Gaia or Mother Earth, it may be a Spiritual Mother – Mother Mary, Goddess Quan Yin, Goddess Tara, Shakti – or any number of other Spiritual deities or energies.   We will each choose the energy we wish to paint.

This Mother’s Day, with “Shelter in Place,” I cannot be with my children or granddaughter – and I want to PAINT – I want to paint in community.  I’d love to have you join me.  Maybe you can’t be with your family – maybe you have been with them 24/7 for weeks and need a break – or maybe you are just in the right place to say “YES – this sound exactly what I want/need.”

We will do this process with Zoom – internet technology.  Starting with a Red Thread Circle of Connection, then journeying painting, journaling, dancing, sharing  – A circle – keeping us connected!  We are all in this process of ‘LIFE” together.  

Sunday, May 10, 2020 11 am to 3 pm PT – REGISTER EARLY SO YOU CAN GET SUPPLIES SENT IF YOU WANT/NEED THEM.  If you don’t have them you can still attend and use what you have – pens, markers, crayons –  and I will be recording this so you can watch it later.  It won’t be a fancy recording – but it typically works.

Cost:  Regular price $75, “Shelter in Place” price $49.  AND if you can’t manage either of those prices – pay what you can – no questions asked.

I am not set up at this point with the high technology that allows for a “pay what you can” option.  When you go to “check out”  it will tell you the price is $75.  You can pay that OR use the code ShelterInPlace and receive a $26 reduction so the price is$49
