The Magical Mystical Mandala – WORKSHOP

March 18, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

The joys and magic with the Mandala are vast and often surprising.  This is one of my favorite workshops to share.

This workshop can be online or in person.  DUE TO NUMEROUS REQUESTS:  This course will be offered online (ZOOM) March 17 and 18.  There are 2 options for this workshop online –  You get your supplies or I send them to you. (If you are across the ocean from the US –  it is likely better for you to get your own as I cannot guarantee arrival in time and what the shipping cost would be.  IF YOU AFRE JOINING IN PERSON –  it will be similar to option 2 below and all materials will be included.

OPTION 1 -If you supply your own my basic recommendations include:  (If you wish to go this way – lets have a conversation for more in depth details)

CANVAS –  whatever size you wish –  in person for this length of workshop we would generally work on a 12″ x 12″ or 16″ x 16″  As you will have the video and can work in your own frame – you are welcome to work larger –  if you are new to painting and new to the mandala I would recommend not going too large for the first time – you can always paint another – and another -and another…

PAINTS – I use acrylic paints.  I used to use the Craft paints (Blick, Americana, Folk Art…)  they are inexpensive and come in a variety of colors in 2oz. bottles.  They work just fine.  I will admit I have become spoiled with the richness of Golden Arcylics and generally use them now, and the Craft paints work fine.

Brushes –  a variety pack from Michaels or Blick, or similar would be great –  making sure you have a thin liner, a flat and/or angled – approx 1/2 ” wide, and a mid size round.  You can also get an inexpensive 2″ flat brush at a hardware store that makes painting the background nice and easy.

Template – I generally use templates for classes and even when I paint  my own. If you have the time and inclination you can draw your own –  You can find free templates online.  – copy them and take to a local printer if you need to enlarge them.  Depending on the size of the canvas and whether you feel called to paint a border the mandala generally has 2-4 inches around the outside of it.

Saran tracing paper

perhaps 3-D paint

perhaps Crystals with an art erase putty

ruler, shape colored pencil or pen

OPTION 2 – If I send the supplies to you:The package will include 12″ x 12″ canvas, set of 12 colors Blick acrylic paints, a set of brushes from Michaels, plus a 2″ brush, a sheet of Saran tracing paper, a bottle of 3-d gold paint, a template (you choose between 12 options that will fit on 12 x 12 canvas),  acrylic crystals and a dobber (art eraser)   Supplies and shipping (US) $75

In this sweet class we will join in circle, discuss aspects of the mandala, have step by step instructions and gentle guidance and more.  No experience is necessary. The mandala often offers delightful, in-depth information about life and nurturing of the Soul.  When I paint the Mandala – I am in a state of Love –  and I like being in that state.  I hope you will join us.
